BREAST CANCER DOULA CERTIFICATION™

Become a Certified Breast Cancer Doula™

Help women navigate diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship with greater clarity, confidence, and support.

Women facing breast cancer are often expected to coordinate appointments, manage information, advocate for themselves, integrate recommendations from multiple providers, and support their families—all while navigating one of the most challenging experiences of their lives.

Medical providers treat the disease.

The Breast Cancer Doula Certification™ was created to prepare a new generation of professionals to fill this critical gap in care.

WHY NOW

Breast Cancer Care Is Changing

As care becomes increasingly specialized, the need for education, navigation, communication, and continuity continues to grow.

Women today have more information, more treatment options, more providers, and more decisions than ever before.

At the same time, many women report feeling overwhelmed, unsupported, and responsible for coordinating their own care.

As breast cancer care becomes increasingly specialized, many women are searching for someone who can help them understand the big picture.

The Breast Cancer Doula™ profession is emerging to help fill that gap.

Not by replacing medical care. By helping women navigate it.

A NEW PROFESSION

Because Women Need More Than Medical Care Alone

The healthcare system treats the disease. Women still need help navigating the experience.

While healthcare teams play an essential role, much of this work falls to the woman herself.

The Breast Cancer Doula™ provides the missing layer of support.

Not as a replacement for medical care. As a guide, educator, advocate, coordinator, and steady presence throughout the journey.

Women Facing Breast Cancer Are Often Expected To

  • Make complex treatment decisions quickly
  • Coordinate appointments across multiple providers
  • Manage information and medical records
  • Evaluate complementary approaches safely
  • Advocate for themselves during vulnerable moments
  • Support their families while managing their own care
  • Navigate recovery, survivorship, and fear of recurrence

THE PEONY MODEL

Inspired by Midwifery. Designed for Breast Cancer.

A care model built around continuity, coordination, education, and whole-person support.

The Breast Cancer Doula™ model is inspired by one simple observation:

Women navigating major life transitions benefit from informed, continuous support.

Just as birth doulas help women navigate pregnancy and childbirth, Breast Cancer Doulas™ help women navigate diagnosis, treatment, recovery, and survivorship.

They help organize complexity.

They help women prepare for decisions.

They help coordinate support.

They help translate overwhelm into a clear plan.

At the center of this work is the Peony Care Plan™—a personalized framework that helps women organize information, communicate effectively, and actively participate in their care.

The doula helps bring that framework to life.
